Israel Update: still no government, likely going to third elections. Maybe Netanyahu’s been falsely accused, maybe not. Someone claimed to have seen a large amount of butter on the shelves of a store in Tel Aviv — it’s probably a hoax.
Sarah finally had a real plumber over to fix her slow sink drainage problem. Apparently the building she’s in was built in the long-ago time when pipes were made of Play-Doh, so the plumber says he can’t guarantee the pipes will stay clear. But at least he did real plumbering work, as opposed to the first one she had over who ran a snake through the drain for a minute and left.
I did make a release of 8th this week, as scheduled. This time there were a lot of important fixes. Besides the “randomization” issues I mentioned previously, there was a very significant security issue on Windows centered around a faulty implementation of snprintf. There were a pile of other fixes as well. Now I’m working on a few other fixes to “slip in”, hopefully this coming week.
My mom was supposed to have had another eye-treatment this week. However, because our health-fund hadn’t yet given approval for us to purchase the medicine she needs to have injected even though we asked for the approval some 10 days prior, we had to postpone the treatment. Mom’s not happy. I’m not happy. But I will make the health-fund people very unhappy this coming week. They have poked the Ron. You don’t want to poke the Ron!
She and I did get flu shots though, and I was informed by the nurse that I’ve lost 8kg since the beginning of the year, which is a good thing. I’m working on losing another 5kg. Though I have no intention of refraining from eating Esther’s amazing food!
Various:
- It looks like the “Terminator” won’t “be back”.
- It’s really sad that ubiquitous surveillance makes it hard for porch-thieves.
- Sorry, Coco, but it’s true: men cannot menstruate even though the word has “men” in it.
The ‘slight warming’ occurred; it’s been unseasonably warm this week and it’ll stay above average for the coming week. Unfortunately. It’s perhaps informative that last week it rained though we hadn’t yet started to ask for rain in our prayers; and this week we got nary a drop though we started asking. Something to ponder…
This shabbat the three of us will have:
homemade ḥalla,
chicken breast in mushrooms and wine sauce,
home-style meatloaf,
various salatim,
and oatmeal cookies.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
