The heat-wave from last week continued all this week. Yesterday it reached 40C at our place; it’s supposed to get a bit hotter today. No need to turn on the oven, we can just use the sidewalks!

The ridiculous Eurovision contest ended Monday. Israel didn’t win. The Icelandic group “Hatari” (translation: “Hater”) performed “Hatrið mun sigra” (”Hatred will prevail”), and proceeded to prove their point by political posturing. If they truly wanted to show solidarity with the “Palestinians”, they should have gone to perform their act in Gaza. Sure, it would have been a very short performance, ending with their demise, but it would have been “brave” and “fresh”.

Esther’s gone off to Tel Aviv today, to participate in a yearly knitting event. She thus leaves me alone with my poor old mother, to prepare the house and meals for shabbat. That might be a tactical error on her part.

Our beautiful grandchildren celebrated their 1st birthdays this week! It seems like just yesterday we were at Daniela’s home, anxiously awaiting their “delivery”.

I was really busy this week, between work for clients and work on hardware for 8th. I’ve got a number of the little SBCs now, heating up my office. Some of them are really nice; but the real work will begin next week, when I start doing low-level investigation on them.

I need to get busy since Esther’s away; so I’ll sign off for now.

This week we’re roasting, as is the food I’m preparing:
ḥalla, roast lamb, Persian rice, crock-pot chicken with veggies, spicy eggplant, potato kugel, humble radish salad, egg salad, tuna salad, and watermelon.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
