We had a relatively unexciting week, though our country’s legal wrangling over whether or not Netanyahu can form the government was finally decided in favor of Bibi. So: for the fifth time he’ll be forming a government, while going on trial in two weeks on corruption charges!

Who ever said life in Israel was boring?

I spent time this week doing my own wrangling, though not of a legal nature. A client of mine is having me create a database with accompanying data analysis programs. As part of that, a large body of information needs to be entered in the system. Unfortunately, the most important part of that information is on paper and needs to be deciphered. Fortunately, someone familiar with it is doing the data entry. Unfortunately, the data being entered is not consistent.

Cue 8th scripts to save the day! There’s still more cleaning of the input data to do, but whatever could be automated has been. Now I’m working on finalizing an API for others to use, and I’m using 8th scripts to test it. Did I mention I like to plug 8th whenever I can?

We’re starting to reopen the country. Over the next few weeks, the restrictions will be relaxed, and somewhere in mid-June we should be mostly back to normal. Sarah should be returning to work in the next week or so; whether she’s happy about that or not remains to be seen.

Our modern life:

The weather has been delightful! But today it will get quite hot, then become cool and maybe rainy on shabbat, followed by a heat-wave mid-week. Who ever said life in Israel was boring?

We’ll make our shabbat menu around:
homemade ḥalla, braised turkey breast, mashed potatoes, veggie chili, rice, various salatim, and fruit crumble.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
