Back to our usual schedule.

We spent Sunday morning quickly returning our kitchen to its “year-round” mode, and I once again praise the foresight and generosity of my wife, who made me purchase a hand-cart! The savings in back-pain was substantial.

Other than that not insignificant effort, we spent the week getting back to a normal work schedule. Both of us were fairly inundated with work, and didn’t have a lot of time for other things.

I did spend some time replacing 8th’s “TLS” library, which also includes a new cryptographic library (which I haven’t yet incorporated). The common wisdom in security circles is that “you should never roll your own cryptography”. True enough! But sometimes you can’t rely on well-established libraries either. To wit: a Java cryptography implementation mistake allows digital-signature forgeries. This is a major issue; and even though I am not affected directly, it highlights the need to be vigilant and constantly review application security. As I do.

What can you believe?

The meltdown in the Twitterverse has been spectacularly amusing. Musk hasn’t even done a single thing (since he’s not yet the official owner of Twitter), and the rivers of salty tears have cleansed the streets of Silicon Valley. It’s truly a glorious moment in internet history; but as Kisin points out: Musk has his work cut out for him.

We’ve had warmer than usual, though not super hot weather this week. But a mini heat-wave is coming in just for the weekend, so we’ll enjoy the A/C this shabbat.

Our menu this shabbat includes:
home-made ḥalla, Moroccan lemon-olive chicken, roasted butternut-squash, various salatim, and some kind of dessert.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
