We’re wending our way towards the upcoming visit to the US. It’s just a week away, now. Can you feel the excitement in the air?!?
To satisfy demands, suggestions, and hints, we did a fair bit of shopping this week. We now have the better part of one suitcase dedicated to the needs of the visitees. I now appreciate our foresight in having payed a bit extra so we could tote extra luggage…
Between this and that, we worked. I came down with a chest-cold accompanied by a sore throat. The home-variety COVID test showed I don’t have that, so it’s merely the usual miserable affliction. Fortunately, it should be well over before we travel. Except for the cough: that will linger for a month or more, if my personal history is a guide.
Some things:
- Prof. Hossenfelder on why counting calories makes no sense.
- Prof. Strassler on the wormhole that wasn’t.
- “LastPass” security breach got customer information, though no passwords. caveat emptor!
- Iran, that bastion of freedom and democracy, poisons 1200 students to prevent them from protesting.
- Canada tells Iran, “hold my beer” while we recommend suicide!
I made the last release of 8th for 2022, and announced our year-end sale. Now I’m “on vacation”, woo-hoo!
We’re very (!) happy to have Sarah and Yarin visit us for shabbat dinner. I’m sure my daughter will bequeath us something additional to stash in our luggage.
The weather has been stable: no rain, not freezing or boiling. Just… there. Scheduled to be clear and dry and cool for shabbat.
Sarah and Yarin’s visit necessitates some special preparations! So this shabbat we’ll have:
ḥalla,
minestrone,
eggplant Parmesan,
steamed broccoli,
pasta with pesto,
various salatim,
and apple pie with ice cream.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
