Where do I begin? Well, we started the week once again with the news of three more hostages having been released. They looked like Holocaust victims, and Hamas once again played their sadistic games upon their release.
It seems that Trump was not pleased by this. After their meeting, Bibi announced that war would resume if “the hostages” are not released by this Saturday. Bibi allowed his statement to be excessively vague, considering the apparently ardent support Trump was giving him. We truly need better leadership here. Anyway, we’ll have to see what happens over shabbat.
People have been saying Trump’s plan for Gaza is unrealistic, it’s terrible, it’s “ethnic-cleansing”. But even before the war 44% of young Gazans wanted to leave, and the number is much higher now. I nominate Antarctica as a relocation location. Lots of land mass for them to tunnel into, impossible for them to invade neighboring lands. Win-win, I say!
Of note:
- Erin Molan: “failure on a global scale”.
- This week’s hostages were weeks away from cardiac arrest.
- The former US administration poured millions of dollars into Hamas (among many others).
- Wallace Shawn (of “The Princess Bride” fame) serves to illustrate that the vaunted “Jewish intelligence” seems to skip a generation or two, at times.
- Egypt is building up a force of tanks on our border in violation of the peace agreement. What, me worry?
- Are Trump and Putin carving up E. Europe?
- And: a boy ate 75 chicken-nuggets every day for years. What happened to his eyes?
I worked on a “digital picture frame” project and released the source code as well as a rather techy explanation (in the link). TL;DR: the picture frame we have been using has many irritating features (at least, they irritate me), and I decided to do better. And indeed, I did do better! It was a satisfying short project.
Daniela et. fam. spent the week in sunny Florida, geeking out at reptiles and tropical birds, and enjoying the warm weather and nice beaches. We hope to hear all about it soon!
We had a fair amount of rain (and cold) this week, but shabbat is supposed to be dry and a bit warmer. More rain this coming week, though.
This shabbat Esther and I will indulge in:
homemade ḥallah,
ḥamud,
braised ribs,
rice,
various salatim,
and fruit.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
