Our second week at Daniela’s in the Exile was busy and pleasant. We met up with more relatives and exchanged war stories. Literally. Played rigorously with the children. Became “tickle-monster” rather frequently.
The twins resumed school after “winter break”, so the latter half of the week was far more quiet than the beginning had been. A bit too quiet, though Master Yosef did his best to keep us entertained. It turns out you actually can play 500 games of “match the cards” every day!
Esther’s assisted with cooking, I made a couple sourdough loaves. The children loved “saba bread” so there’s that.
Various and sundry:
- US media is now numb to antisemitism. As if they were sensitive to it, before.
- My friend’s blog, usually worth a read.
- And Mallen asks Is Al Gore right about 1 billion climate refugees by 2050?
We’ve shut down our Israeli company as of the end of 2023, and have opened a US LLC instead. This will save us a lot of money in operating expenses. Why didn’t we do this a long time ago? I think we thought we’d have more Israeli customers; but in fact, most of my customers are in the US and the EU. We’ll see how things progress, but this is probably going to be a good thing.
While the children are at school during the day, Esther and I are doing some work. I’m working mainly on additional features for the next release of 8th, and Esther’s doing whatever it is she does. Master Yosef is occupied variously with matching games and word games, with frequent appeals to us to “shuffle the cards” and “do you want to play this game, saba?” How can I say “no”?
It’s cold here, and has been getting colder through the week. There’s a chance of snow for shabbat, and likely snow for Sunday. But, as always, we’ll see. I’ve managed to come down with a cold, thank you very much, Naomi!
This shabbat we’re still at Daniela’s, the menu has:
ḥalla,
matsa-ball soup,
chicken,
sweet and sour salmon,
potato kugel,
and ice cream.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
