It took us several days to get over the jet-lag, but get over it we have. So it was back to “normal” for us, for some value of “normal”.

We’ve had the same kitchen knives for many years, and we’ve hated them because they won’t hold an edge, and are difficult to sharpen as well. So this week, I ordered “Ninja Foodi” knives, and boy, these bad-boys are really sharp! We can finally cut tomatoes without crushing them! I know, it’s a gimmick; but they do really work nicely.

I made the first release of 8th for this year. Now I’m working on making fixes to the “zemanim” app bugs which one of my 8th users pointed out. Keeps me off the streets, anyway.

Amongst the rubble:

And on that note: I’m refraining from discussing the presumptive “cease-fire” deal (perhaps to be approved today) because it makes me so insanely angry, I’m afraid I’ll melt my computer. So I’ll just mention that while the redemption of captives is one of the most important mitsvot, our Sages ob”m commanded that “one may not redeem captives for ‘more than their worth’”. The reason given: “so that the enemy not (be encouraged to) pursue more captives”. Once again, a shame our feckless leaders don’t learn more Torah. Yes, including the ones from “Degel HaTorah” &c.

I seem to be done with the various infections foisted upon me by the Grands; Esther is still doing battle. Hopefully soon we’ll be “all clear”. In the meantime, we’re trying to maintain our health until the next visit…

The weather here’s been quite delightful, actually. It looks like shabbat will continue the mild weather streak. For the next week, anyway, it doesn’t appear there’ll be much cold weather at all. Where’s winter?!?

We’ve been invited out for one meal this shabbat. For the rest we’ll have:
homemade ḥallah, meatballs, rice, some salatim, and ice-cream.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
