Unlike the current POTUS, I prefer to wait and gather evidence before declaring victory. And indeed, victory is mine! The pesky rodents have been foiled, there were no “events” all week. Next week I’ll finish off the immuring of their points of ingress, and then I’ll repaint that entire area so it smells better. But that, my friends, is for next week!

I continued the cleanup of my office. It’s now about 20% done. Progress! I tossed out multiple bags of debris, old computer hardware that nobody has used in years, bits of plastic and metal that aren’t particularly useful (though to be honest, I’m not completely at peace with that decision). I can now access parts of the office which haven’t been accessible for some time. Feel free to donate to my medical recuperation fund.

Besides all that, I spent quite a lot of time on Mechon Mamre “business”, writing content and answering questions. Now I’m all tuckered out.

Esther, for her part, was working as usual and complaining to me about “people”. I feel her pain.

Various oddities:

This week’s set of online classes went a bit better than the first week’s, I think. Paying for unlimited Zoom time was worthwhile, as it allowed some of the participants to ask questions and have a real discussion afterward. In the meantime, this week, I’ve been organizing my thoughts for the next “topics” session. Turns out writing down bullet-points to cover is a good strategy. Who knew?!?

I’ve also started playing around with some software called KiCad, which is an electronics CAD program; more on that next week, I think…

It’s supposed to be hot through shabbat, then cooling off though the first part of the week. So that’s something to look forward to!

This shabbat, on our menu:
homemade ḥalla, barely braised “cinta” (sirloin), “roasties”, baked salmon, roasted vegetables, green salad, beet salad, various salatim, and ice-cream.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
