Happy birthday to Esther, who has made my life better in every measurable way! By means of celebration, we met up with Sarah and Yarin in Modi’in and had a pleasant dinner. Thank you, kids, for meeting up with Mama and me!

We spent some significant time this week preparing for next week’s Tour of the Grands. Among other activities, we went to a toy-store and found a number of small items with which to regale the Grands. However, Sarah pointed out that one of the items might not be quite appropriate for kids younger than teenagers, though it seems OK to us. We’ll have to check it more thoroughly over shabbat.

I’m happy to report that my exercise regime has started paying dividends. Though my weight hasn’t decreased, my waist has. That’s encouraging; we’ll see whether or not there’s been any significant improvement whenever I redo my blood lab tests.

Sundries:

  • Amazon shuts down customer’s smart-home devices after a delivery driver accused the homeowner of being a “racist”. Do you still think giving control of your home to Big Tech oligarchs is a good idea?
  • Biden seems confused as to which country he leads. His knowledge of firearms is… well, shall we say, “unique”?
  • Sarah Haider on the Muslim/Christian alliance against #Pride.
  • Mallen Baker on Ireland’s plan to cull cows for the climate. First the potato famine, now the beef famine?
  • And what happened to a man who ate “pork tacos” from an illegal food-truck.

I decided I should release a wrap-up version of 8th before we left on our tour. In particular, I wanted to give it a week so if my customers found issues, I could fix them before we go. I don’t intend to do much workish-work while we’re there. “grands oblige”, you know?

Quip of the day: “The notion that a man can become a woman is a logical phallusy”.

Weather was pleasant this week, at or just below average for the season. It’ll be average or slightly above for shabbat, slightly below into next week. It seems we’ve settled into the usual summer pattern.

My plan for shabbat is to avoid contact with humans. See you later!

Our last shabbat before the Grands Tour. On the menu:
home-made ḥalla, chicken piccata, noodles, various salatim, fruit, and a dessert of some sort.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
