You’ll recall I said last week we didn’t know if the US would join in or not. Well, they did indeed. After misdirecting everyone’s attention to Guam, the US sent B2 bombers loaded for bear, on a 30+ hour round-trip from the middle of the US to Fordow, Natanz, and back again — absolutely hammering Iran. Right after the pre-arranged Iranian response, Trump imposed a cease-fire and then got pissy with Israel for responding to Iranian transgression of it.

In the meantime, we had an “energetic” start to the week until the “ceasefire” took effect. Since then, we’ve been cautiously easing back into “normality”, though I am not convinced the pause in hostilities will last very long. In particular, since the IR regime remains intact (as of now) and has not modified its belligerent stance one iota. But we’ll take what we can get…

We did manage quite a bit this week, once the war wound down. I spent some time each day working on organizing my office and tossing out debris. As I told Esther, I’m about 10% done, which means it will never actually end. She filed taxes left and right, eliciting various reactions from her clients.

Things of note:

Among other things, I made another release of 8th this week. I had planned to finish it two weeks ago, but, well, you know…

I did a fair amount of work on the Mechon-Mamre site, and am trying to be prepared for next-week’s shiurim. I’ll let you know how that goes; it’s my first time doing this sort of thing via “Zoom”.

It’ll be medium hot over shabbat, but since we didn’t go to services the past two weeks (because, well, you know…) I feel modestly obligated to wend my way there this week.

In anticipation of a “normal” shabbat, we’ll have:
homemade ḥalla, honey roasted chicken, rice, braised short ribs, roasted veggies, various salatim, and spice cake.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥodesh ṭov!
