Mazal tov, mazal tov! “Baby C” was born via C-section yesterday. Daniela, Jeremy, and the twins won’t disclose the actual name until the “bris”, which will be next Thursday IY”H. Of course, “Baby C” might actually be the name they’ve chosen. You never can tell with Daniela…
Mother and son are fine, and presumably will remain in hospital for several more days, at least until the beginning of the “intermediate days” of pesaḥ. I think she really wanted an excuse to get out of the seder this year.
That’s ok, Esther and I have been preparing all week for the upcoming holiday. This morning, we’ll prepare fresh “soft” maṣoth as we’ve done the past couple years. Unlike years past, however, we’ve got to make a larger quantity because Sarah wants some as does one of our neighbors. Maybe there’s a business there.
We voted, somewhat reluctantly. The results so far seem to be that we’ll have a fifth election sometime later this year. Plus ça change and all that.
Some stuff:
- I know, it’s hard to know what’s true and what’s not, but please don’t drink “therapeutic” water. Simple rule of thumb: outrageous claims are usually false.
- A California Senator makes the audacious claim that it’s easier to buy a gun than it is to vote. Of course, that’s arrant nonsense. Again: outrageous claims. You know?
- Mike Solana on mall cops and messiahs.
- If you’re relying on the security of SMS messages, please rethink.
- And Matt Walsh on “fatphobia”.
The pre-pesaḥ weather did not disappoint! We had the requisite dust-storm, which made all the neighborhood’s cars look like mud had been dumped on them. Then a bit of rain came and washed some of the mud off. So much for washing the car!
Our holiday forecast calls for seasonably nice weather, clear and dry. The holiday starts immediately after shabbat, so we’ve got a twofer this week.
The shabbat and pesaḥ menu includes:
pita (only through shabbat morning!),
homemade soft maṣoth,
meatballs, rice,
tuna salad, avocado salad,
brisket with carrots,
baked chicken,
baked salmon,
huevos haminados,
mina de espinaca,
keftes de prasa,
coleslaw,
green salad,
horseradish,
various salatim,
and mocha-chip meringues.
And no less than four cups of wine!
Until next time,
shabbat shalom and ḥag sameaḥ!
