Well, what can I say? It’s never boring here in the Holy Land! Our dear cousins (PIJ contingent, currently) have hopefully been reduced in power by the IDF’s past several days’ efforts. I am, as ever, not very optimistic that our leaders have the cojones to do what really needs doing. So the future will look remarkably similar to the past. Sigh.
Lots of gardening this week. I have been tearing out the $!@#$% ivy, bit by bit. Though there’s still a significant amount left, the upper part of the wall bordering our neighbor has been cleared sufficiently to let us contemplate putting up hanging planters with drip-irrigation. We just have to get the planters etc. and plant stuff. Hopefully within the next several weeks, insha’allah.
Various:
- WHO is attempting to centralise power. Where do they imagine their authority comes from?
- Recycling isn’t as “Green” as you thought it was.
- Yet another WordPress vulnerability puts millions of sites at risk. Again.
- Trashida Glib’s “Nakba Day” event was canceled, but fellow asshat Bernie Sanders stepped up to save the day for her. May they both rot on the dung-heap of history.
- (some) Women really can see different colors! It’s bad enough men are prone to color-blindness; now it turns out we just can’t see the same colors.
- My favorite food historian revisits the food that time forgot: “ship’s biscuits”.
Esther’s running off to Tel Aviv to attend a knitting-do this morning. Hopefully, the lull in rockets from our good friends in Gaza will continue until at least after she gets back home! In any event, dinner is “on me”. Fasten your seatbelts…
In preparation for next week’s release of 8th, I’ve been working on a complex sample application which implements a “blog”. Right now it doesn’t do that, but the infrastructure is in place for a regular web-site. My plan is to migrate the blog you’re currently reading to the new setup soon. You’ll know when that’s happened, I believe…
This shabbat Ron’s the cook, and I’ll try to prepare:
home-made ḥalla,
baked “sinta”,
roasted potatoes and yams,
meatballs, rice,
various salatim,
and my famous date-pecan cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
