I’m inspired to write a “love letter” to my people:

You’ve endured unspeakable horrors these past two years; but you have endured and emerged stronger. Despite everything, you consistently rate as one of the happiest nations and most optimistic (as the birth-rate proves).

I apologize profusely to our youth; those I thought so involved in hedonism and nihilism that they were “useless”. You not only proved me completely wrong, your strength and courage in the face of inhuman enemies humble me profoundly.

To our detractors, enemies and “allies” alike: if you think Ben Gvir is an “extremist”, well, “boys, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet”! The upcoming generations of leaders, who will emerge having fought like lions for two years, won’t give a single solitary shit what you think, what you “allow”, or anything else. They’ve been through Hell and emerged much harder than any prior generation. You’ve been warned.

עם ישראל חי!

Various:

That sweet meteor of death can’t come soon enough.

We went to the hospital this week so I could undergo a CT scan, as requested by my gastro doctor. The result: I do indeed have kidney stones (one each side) and the ultrasound didn’t notice them because they’re on the small side. Next week I’ll talk to my GP and ask what, if anything, should (or could) be done about them. So far, though, I feel fine.

Nerdism:

I spent a fair amount of time this week working on 8th’s support for the “gpiod” library. Until now, I only supported the 1.x version, but the 2.x version is becoming more common, and it’s different enough that I had to write more code to support it. The end result is that the next release (next week, B”H) will support dynamically loading either version, and it works a treat!

We’re heading into a “light heatwave” over shabbat, through Monday. So that’s unfortunate, but we’ll survive.

This shabbat :
homemade ḥalla, orange soup, baked fish, chicken piccata with artichokes, rice, various salatim, and banana bread.

Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
