Congratulations to Sarah and Yarin! Anyone interested in seeing a video of the event when it becomes available (probably not very soon) should email me.
Daniela spent the week here so she could attend, and just left last night. We’re pretty sure she had a good time with her sister, and we hope she had a pleasant return flight. We know Jeremy is anxious for her return, and we look forward with great anticipation to their summer visit, insha’allah!
We stayed overnight at the Dan Caesaria hotel, because Sarah’s event was held in “Pardes Hannah”, a long way (by Israeli standards) from our home. Since we didn’t want to drive home at midnight, we booked a room for us, and one for Daniela and Grandma Amanda. The hotel was a lot nicer than I had expected, but the best part about it was the breakfast buffet… really top-notch.
By the way: if you are looking for excellent food in Jerusalem, I can recommend a restaurant we tried this week: Efendi. The menu is Turkish and Middle-Eastern, the food is excellent as is the service. It’s easy to get to from where we live, whether by car or bus. We all really enjoyed our meal there, and anticipate returning.
Various:
- Kevin Williamson on why Progressives can’t quit their masks.
- The Senile In Chief avoids cognitive tests. Given the Dems insisted the prior inhabitant of the Oval Office be tested (which he did), I’d say “turnabout is fair play”.
- A comparison of “Gab” vs “Gettr”. I’m on both, as well as other “new venues”, and by and large, they’re all pretty bad and annoying, each in its own ways.
- John Dvorak opines on “Ukraine baloney”. We’ll see if he’s right or not; my guess is he’s partially correct — but Uncle Vlad did shell the Ukraine yesterday all along its border, so there’s that.
- A cryptographer makes the case against security nihilism.
I used to write a “devar torah” every week and post it here on the blog. I stopped a while ago, because I became convinced nobody bothered to read it — and it took quite a lot of effort on my part to think about and compose it. But this week, during a sleepless night, I reconsidered my position and decided to resume publishing some words of Torah. This time around, in a longer format and probably more sporadically. If you’re interested, this week’s devar torah is available; let me know what you think.
The weather has been “unsettled”, and we might have rain and hail over shabbat. At the moment, it’s sunny and chilly. Time will tell!
The shabbat meals will include:
homemade ḥalla,
gondi soup,
baked chicken,
stuffed mushrooms,
various salatim,
and walnut-date cake.
Until next time,
shabbat shalom!
